Is the dictation in real time or is there a lag?
When on device dictation is available, a first draft of the transcript appears nearly immediately in italics. Once the phrase has been completed the dictation engine reviews the speech and makes any necessary corrections, removing the italics when the process is complete (this usually takes between 1-3 seconds)
For some languages, on device dictation is not available and may require additional processing time that will vary based on network connectivity among other factors.
-
Can ProdCom look for and highlight keywords?Yes. You can input custom keywords globally in Settings and individually for Channels and Groups.
-
There's one channel that I’d like to visually see all the time no matter what…Double click on the Channel you want to open it in a separate window, then in the ProdCom menu bar click on [Window > Float on Top]

What audio interfaces are supported?Any audio interface or driver that is compatible with the computer and shows up in mac [System Settings > Sound] will be available to use as a Device in ProdCom
-
Will virtual audio drivers and aggregate devices work with ProdCom?Yes - We routinely use SoundGrid, Dante Virtual Soundcard, Merging Virtual Audio Driver, and Blackhole.
-
How many ProdCom channels can I run at the same time?
On Apple Silicon we are consistently running 12-16+ ProdCom Channels and Groups while simultaneously recording 128ch of audio, running RTA software and other applications with no issue.
We have found macOS running on Intel processors to be substantially less efficient. Expect to run at most 4-8 channels simultaneously.

- If it is correct, re-select the Device to re-link the connection
- If step 3 solves the issue, apply these steps to all ProdCom channels.
- Restart your computer
If transcription is still not working, please contact us via [Help > Contact Support] in the ProdCom menu bar for further assistance
-
Transcription is showing, but seems to stop and start
- Ensure the latest latest macOS updates are installed
- Restart the computer
- It’s possible that the number of channels configured may be over capacity for the available hardware. This is especially true when running ProdCom on Intel processors.
-
Why am I getting inaccurate transcriptions?Transcription will not be 100% accurate and significantly depends on the quality of the source audio. Ensure the input gain is adequate and you are on the latest version of macOS. All updates to macOS are important as even minor updates may bring substantial improvements to transcription quality.
