Licensing & Subscriptions

How do macOS subscriptions work?

macOS subscriptions are purchased directly. You’ll receive a license key by email for activation.

How do iOS subscriptions work?

iOS subscriptions are managed through the App Store on your Apple ID.

Can I use ProdCom on multiple devices?

Each ProdCom subscription is licensed for one device. A macOS license covers one Mac, and an iOS subscription covers one iPhone or iPad. If you need ProdCom on multiple machines or devices, each one requires its own subscription.

Where can I find my license key?

Check your purchase email. If you need help, contact support@prodcom.io.

How do I migrate from an App Store subscription to a direct license?

If you have an active macOS App Store subscription and want to switch to a direct license, you can migrate from within the app. Open Settings → License, link your email address, and ProdCom will generate a discount code covering the remainder of your App Store term. Use the code to purchase a direct subscription, activate with the emailed license key, then cancel your App Store subscription.

Note: When you install the Direct version, you’ll need to re-enter your license key. Settings don’t automatically transfer between the App Store and Direct builds, so export your configuration from the App Store app and import it into the Direct app.

Audio & Devices

What audio interfaces are supported?

Any macOS-compatible interface or virtual driver. Dante, MADI, AVB, SoundGrid, USB, and more.

How many channels can I run?

Apple Silicon systems routinely handle 12–16+ channels depending on hardware and workflow load.

Do I need internet access?

On-device dictation works offline. Translation or languages not cached locally may require internet access.

Automation, MIDI & OSC

Can ProdCom trigger automations from keywords?

Yes. Keywords can trigger alerts, control software, and launch MIDI or OSC-based workflows.

Does it work with MIDI controllers?

Yes. ProdCom can listen for MIDI inputs and trigger actions or macros.

What is OSC and how does ProdCom use it?

OSC (Open Sound Control) is a protocol used by lighting desks, media servers, and show control systems. ProdCom can send and receive OSC messages over UDP or TCP — triggered by keywords, MIDI events, or inbound OSC — to automate cues, adjust parameters, or control external gear from spoken words.

Which devices and software work with ProdCom over OSC?

Any OSC-capable endpoint: ETC Eos, QLab, Resolume, Disguise, grandMA3, and more. ProdCom also exposes a built-in /prodcom/ command namespace so external systems can control ProdCom remotely.

Network Sharing

Can I share channels to other machines?

Yes. Enable network sharing in Settings → Network on both machines, then share individual channels from the host. Remote machines can discover and connect to shared channels automatically.

Can I share an entire group of channels at once?

Yes. Share a channel group on the network and remote machines receive the full group with all its member channels. The group password — if set — covers every channel in the group.

The host machine doesn't appear on the remote

Both machines must be on the same local network. Automatic discovery uses Bonjour (mDNS), which some corporate or VLAN-segmented networks block. Use Manual Connection with the host's IP address and port as a fallback.

Can I choose which network interface ProdCom uses?

Yes. In Settings → Network you can select a specific network interface. This is useful for dual-NIC rigs, isolated show networks, or VLAN-segmented environments.

Can multiple remotes connect to the same channel?

Yes. A single shared channel supports multiple simultaneous consumers. The host shows a connection count next to each shared channel in the sidebar.

Workflow & Translation

Can I type into a channel instead of speaking?

Yes. Enable typed input on any channel and use the text field at the bottom of the transcript to send messages. Typed entries appear alongside spoken ones, marked with a keyboard icon so recipients can tell the difference.

Can I translate multiple languages?

Yes. Set translation globally or per channel based on the source language.

How do I keep a channel visible?

Double-click a channel to open it in a separate window, then enable Window → Float on Top.

Can I export transcripts?

Yes. Export transcripts for record keeping, reports, and training.
